Resolution is only one part of wallpaper quality. A clean, stable 720p animation can look better on a phone than an unstable or heavily compressed 4K file. Composition, motion, compression, screen size, storage, and the device’s wallpaper engine all affect the final result.

720 × 1280: lightweight and practical
A vertical 720p file is sensible for older phones, limited storage, slower connections, or devices that aggressively crop wallpaper media. It downloads quickly and is easier for low-power devices to decode. On a typical phone viewed at normal distance, a carefully composed 720p scene can still look polished.
Choose 720p when reliability and file size matter more than maximum detail. It is also useful for testing whether a phone or conversion app accepts the animation before downloading a larger version.
1080 × 1920: the balanced default
Full HD is the safest general-purpose target for modern phones. It preserves more texture than 720p without the storage and processing cost of a 4K master. For many screens, the interface, crop, and compression will matter more than the difference between 1080p and 4K.
Choose 1080p when it is available and you want a strong balance of sharpness, compatibility, and file size.
2160 × 3840: maximum detail
A true vertical 4K file is useful on high-resolution displays, for users who want to recrop the scene, and for keeping a higher-quality personal master. It is also much larger. Some wallpaper apps will downscale it, and some phones may use more storage or processing resources without showing a dramatic visual improvement.
Choose 4K when the wallpaper page explicitly lists 2160 × 3840, the file has been reviewed at that resolution, and your device handles large videos comfortably.
Duration and motion matter too
A short file is not automatically more efficient if it contains a visible repeated loop. WallyAI uses either a deliberately seamless forward-and-reverse loop or a continuous multi-shot sequence, depending on the scene. Each wallpaper page explains which approach was used. Gentle motion is usually easier to live with behind a clock and icons than constant camera movement or flashing effects.

Choose 720p for speed, storage savings, and broad compatibility.
Choose 1080p for the best balance on most modern phones.
Choose 4K for maximum detail, high-resolution screens, or future editing.
Always judge the preview, framing, and stability—not just the number in the filename.
